Manhunt / Obława (Poland, 2012)

directed by Marcin Krzyształowicz, thriller, 88 min, eng subtitles
written by Marcin Krzyształowicz
with Marcin Dorociński, Maciej Stuhr, Sonia Bohosiewicz, Weronika Rosati

The action of this dark drama takes place during the Second World War and was inspired by real events. Marcin Dorociński, one of the most talented Polish actors of the younger generation, plays a Polish partisan particularly effective in the fight against the Nazi occupiers, but he is also inflexible and unforgiving of those of his own camp. His unit was decimated after a betrayal and it is he who is responsible for identifying the culprits and executing them. During the investigation he will judge Kondolewicz (Maciej Stuhr), owner of a local factory who has sided with the enemy, an old friend from before the war. Shot on a very small budget, the film was awarded many prizes and hailed as one of the best Polish films of the last ten years.
