Three parallel stories follow characters who are motivated by events from the past to make decisions that will change their lives. Nebojša, a witness of an event in which his best friend died (during the Bosnian war in 1993) confronts his best friend's murderer; Haris, who owes his life to a hero who sacrificed himself for him, settles the debt by risking everything and helping a woman in peril; while the son of one of the murderers gradually paves the way to overcoming the tragic past...

Circles is a film about the consequences of a heroic act. Does heroism make sense and does it stimulate us to perform new good deeds? Does one humane deed spread like circles when a pebble is thrown into the water? A contemporary story about a heroic act and its positive consequences.

Inspired by real events

"Circles is a film about people whose lives are changed by a single event, about shadows of the past and the need to step out of these shadows, about being frustrated by heroism. Circles is a film about guilt, about whether it is only the ones who committed the crime who are guilty, or whether it's also those who witnessed the crime and failed to prevent it." (director's statement)
