He longs to control his own life again, not only to obey his wife’s “well-meant” orders and manipulation. His solution is simply to escape. In parallel we follow the lives of Jan's married daughters Olinka and Alenka and his sons-in-law Erik and Pepík, uncovering the complicated world of adult relationships and the subtle rules of the mechanism called marriage.
