Andrzej Seweryn is a prominent and successful Polish actor and director, working both in Poland and abroad. He has appeared in over 80 films, including works by Andrzej Wajda (Without Anesthesia, The Promised Land, The Conductor, Man of Iron), Andrzej Żuławski (On the Silver Globe), Steven Spielberg (Schindler's List), Raoul Ruiz and many others. In 1980, he was awarded the Silver Bear for his role in Wajda’s The Conductor at the Berlinale IFF. He is also a very successful theatre actor – sociétaire of the famous Comédie Française as one of only three non-French actors in the theatre’s history, in 2005 he received the Légion d'honneur for his contribution to French culture. Currently he is general director of Teatr Polski, one of Poland’s biggest theatres. Just recently he was honoured with the Golden Leopard Award for Best Actor at the 2016 Locarno IFF, for the role of Zdzisław Beksiński in The Last Family, directed by Jan P. Matuszyński.
