Marita is the debut feature film by an already acclaimed director of short movies, screened at the major film festivals, including Cannes and Berlinale. A comedy, gripping family drama and road movie all at the same time, Marita explores the twists and turns of family life during a quite unexpected Christmas reunion at a guesthouse in the middle of snowy mountains. After a quarrel with his girlfriend,Costi decides not to go with her to visit the girl's family, but to spend some time with his own folks instead. Suddenly in the mood for his father’s storytelling, Costi decides to pay him a visit and bring him as a gift for his mother and his two brothers who are spending Christmas in a mountain chalet. Taking the old family car, affectionately known as Mariþa, they head out on a journey that will ultimately help to heal past wounds and allow Costi to finally understand not only his parents, but also himself.
