A story inspired by true events about two children left to their own devices whose innocent play will change their lives forever. Ten years old and living with her grandmother and her irresponsible mother, Jarka is quite used to spending her time alone and very capable of taking care of herself but is pushed by her desire for love and a real family to the point where she finds herself giving shelter to twin babies. To take on her new role, she needs the help of her neighbour, fragile 8-year-old Kristián who spends most of his time in his room playing videogames to avoid bullies. Based on The Fifth Boat by Monika Kompaníková, which became the Slovak Book of the Year in 2010, the film has captivated audiences in Slovakia and abroad thanks to its poetic language and a refreshing child’s perspective. It is the second feature film by the Slovak director Iveta Grófová, whose debut, Made in Ash, was one of the entries in CinEast’s competition in 2012.
