Anna and Juhan, a handsome couple in their thirties, are trying to overcome a difficult point in their relationship. They go to spend a weekend in a fancy house by the seaside, lent to them by their wealthy, more successful friends. When they meet another couple on the beach, Anna and Juhan start a dangerous, intoxicating game, pretending to be the owners of the place. A game that propels their relationship to the brink of destruction. Very soon, a beautiful couple turns quite hideous and a dream house becomes nightmarish. Pretenders is a graceful and nuanced psychological drama with a twist, delving into the complexity of human relations, domination and power, set in chilly summer surroundings.
