Just before Easter 2012, the perfectly lined up bodies of four teenagers, each with a bullet hole in the head, were found near a lake just outside Skopje, the Macedonian capital… The film takes us back 24 hours before the tragic event takes place. Milan and his best friend Petar are preparing to go on an adventurous fishing expedition with some of their friends from the outskirts of Skopje. They are typical teenagers full of sexual and romantic tensions and angst about money and material things. Through their conversations we get to know some more about their lives, truths, lies and secrets. They all have dysfunctional relationships with their parents and represent a whole generation of young people raised in a time of transition and questionable values. They set off on a boys’ night out before an early fishing expedition… Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska, working with acclaimed French cinematographer Agnès Godard as the DoP of the film, does not attempt to solve the crime (which remains unsolved to this day), but, instead, she tries to understand the atmosphere of violence in which these boys live, a violence that perpetuates itself. The film is the first of a triptych of films on the social aspects of Macedonian society, with the director currently working on the second film, God Exists, Her Name is Petrunija.
