Described as “perhaps the most spectacular cultural event of recent times, and definitely the most surprising documentary you'll see this year” (by Filmmagasinet), Liberation Day is certainly one of those extraordinary films that stay in the memory. The two directors, Morten Traavik of Norway and Ugis Olte of Latvia, take us on a most surreal trip to North Korea, together with the controversial Slovenian cult band Laibach, the first rock group ever to perform in the fortress state of North Korea. What could go wrong? Confronting strict ideology and cultural differences, the band struggles to get their songs through the needle’s eye of censorship before they can be unleashed on an audience never before exposed to alternative rock’n’roll. Meanwhile, loudspeakers are being set up to broadcast propaganda on the border between the two Koreas and a countdown to war is announced...

Un documentaire déconcertant et saisissant qui embarque le spectateur dans un voyage surréaliste en Corée du Nord, en compagnie de Laibach, le premier groupe de rock à jouer dans le pays. Un véritable clash entre deux mondes.
