Era of Dance is a film about the resonance of the electronic dance music initiated by the Latvian multimedia artist Indulis Bilzens that bridged West Germany and the Soviet Union. During the second half of the 1980s, a decade marked by the rise in tension between the American and Russian blocks in the Cold War, the West and the East became connected by the new culture phenomena – techno revolution. At this very moment, the electronic dance music movement was in full swing in the West, and Riga was destined to be the city that later revealed a completely new and revolutionary music culture within the Soviet Union. This most definitely influenced the further democratisation of society up until the collapse of the old political system. Meet Westbam, Eastbam and others in the story about how electronic dance culture arrived to the USSR.
