Alexandra Balteanu, an aspiring Romanian director who has lived and worked in Germany since 2003. She studied Media Studies at Bauhaus University in Weimar until 2009. After a film internship and shooting a short documentary in Romania, Balteanu began studying film directing in 2010 at the German Film and TV Academy (DFBB) in Berlin. As a director, she is interested in the idea of taking pieces of reality and applying them to a fictional structure, believing that the narrative should spring organically from character and circumstance. Prowl (Vânătoare, 2016), produced in Germany, is her debut feature in which she explores the daily routine of three prostitutes in Bucharest.
