Arkadiusz Jakubik (1969) is a Polish actor, director, screenwriter and musician. As a graduate of the Academy of Theatre in Wrocław, he made his debut at the Warsaw Operetta in 1993. He has performed on the stages of musical and impresario theatres, directing performances, writing musicals and radio plays (he was the winner of the main prize at the National Radio Vocal Competition). He has also appeared in numerous TV series, gaining countrywide popularity in the role of Rys in the sitcom 13 posterunek. Jakubik's role of a notary in the film Wesele (The Wedding, 2004) by one of the most recognised Polish directors of the younger generation (and CinEast favourite) Wojciech Smarzowski launched the ongoing collaboration between the two artists. Jakubik starred in major roles in Smarzowski’s films Dom zły (The Dark House, 2009), Drogówka (Traffic Department, 2013), Pod Mocnym Aniołem (The Mighty Angel, 2014)(all screened at CinEast) as well as Wołyń (Volhynia, 2017)(on the programme this year), winning him several awards. He is among the busiest film actors in Poland, with around 40 appearances to date, cooperating with directors such as Maciej Pieprzyca, Lukasz Palkowski, Borys Lankosz and others. Arkadiusz Jakubik also directed the films Prosta historia o miłości(The Simple Story About Love, 2010) and Prosta historia o morderstwie (The Simple Story About a Murder, 2016), which he will present personally in Luxembourg. The 2017 programme also features three other films starring him: Jestem mordercą (I’m a Killer, 2016), The Fastest (Najlepszy, 2017)and Sztuka kochania. Historia Michaliny Wislockiej (The Art of Loving: The Story of Michalina Wislocka, 2017). He is also an accomplished musician and the CinEast audience will have the unique opportunity to see him performing with his band Dr. Misio at the Ancien Cinema in Vianden.
