Multi-award winner at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia and also scooping 11 nominations for the Polish Film Awards, Silent Night is a family drama combined with black humour by first-time director Piotr Domalewski.
A rainy Christmas Eve somewhere in eastern Poland. A family is preparing for the annual celebration. As usual, there will be a lot of food, vodka and some fights... When Adam, the oldest son, working in the Netherlands, finds out that his girlfriend is pregnant, he decides to change his life. He travels to his hometown in order to realise his plan. But Christmas dinner won't turn out the way he planned.
Silent Night takes an honest, understanding look at a Polish rural family and community and is a very mature debut that studies the consequences of economic migration and the scars it leaves on family bonds.
