Indrė, an ambitious young research psychologist, reluctantly agrees to transport two young patients from one psychiatric unit to another in exchange for research privileges at her clinic. Soon she finds herself the leader of a somewhat eccentric gang on a long journey to the seaside. Outgoing Paulius is a young man whose manic stage of bipolar disorder stands in great contrast to the introverted Justė, whose wounds are hidden from sight. They both struggle to fight the inner demons that define them. As they navigate the survival process together, what looks from the outside like a carefree summer ride with friends could actually be the beginning of the healing process in this bittersweet story that - just like summer - is full of hope, surprises and the promise that anything is possible.
A sweet film serving as a perfect introduction for anyone wanting to understand how fragile human mental health is. Everyone has a story that is hard to share with others. Problems might not be solved, but hearts become wide open.
“I strongly believe that humour is a way to face suffering. When you are close to death, you fight back with laughter.” Marija Kavtaradzė
