CinEast festival is not only about eyes and ears, we think about your stomach too! As in previous years, we have prepared various opportunities for you to explore the cuisines of Central and Eastern Europe.

Already a tradition, CinEast‘s gastronomic evening at the Brasserie le Neumünster on 13 October will offer a tasty selection of traditional dishes, accompanied by wines and beers from the region. You will be able to choose your own menu from various options from different countries and enjoy the authentic flavours of this gastronomically lesser known region. And what is more, holders of CinEast tickets from the same day get a free aperitif. We advise you to make a reservation by contacting the Brasserie (www.abbaye.lu).

Get ready for a banitsa tasting after the screening of Soul Food Stories, a beautiful documentary about rustic life in Bulgaria, on October12. You will be treated to a variety of homemade cheese pies, or banitsa, along with a glass of ayran (traditional salty yoghurt beverage). For those who are not courageous enough to try out this traditional drink, there will be a glass of Bulgarian wine too.

For a full Balkan dinner (or just a part of it) head to the (M)eat the Balkans event at Exit07 (23/10), a unique opportunity to try out begova čorba, sarma, baklava and other specialities from across the Balkan region. A cooking presentation is also on the programme, as well as a quiz, a selection of short films and all kinds of Balkan music.

In addition, snacks and drinks will be offered to the audience at the short film marathons and hearty Polish and Ukrainian food will be available during the Closing event at Sang&Klang (25/10) to keep up your energy levels for 3 live bands! CinEast will also operate a festival bar at the Cinémathèque offering much more than usual, so that your cinema experiences are not spoilt by a rumbling stomach or a dry mouth.
