June 14th, 1941, tens of thousands of people from the Baltic countries were suddenly removed from their homes: the men were sent to prison camps and the women and children were deported to Siberia. Through this terrible operation, Stalin meant to purge these countries of their native inhabitants.
Erna, a married Estonian woman, is sent to Siberia with her young daughter. From that moment on, time takes on another dimension; against pain and inhuman conditions, she maintains her mental freedom through the letters she sends to her husband who has been sentenced to prison camp.
Based on a true story, told in an incredible dreamlike-style through magical visual techniques, the film is a poignant journey through an unthinkable and little known human experience.
