No One’s Child is a fascinating, true story about a wild boy found by hunters, sometime during the 1980's, in the mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina living among wolves. Against all the predictions about his social and intellectual development, the boy -Haris (a name given by chance) - learns how to function in a society after being sent to an orphanage in Belgrade and begins to integrate. Not long after, the war in Bosnia begins and, because of the boy’s name, the local government demands his return to Bosnia.
Having received numerous awards and screenings at over 20 international festivals, the debut film of Vuk Rušumoviæ is considered the most successful Serbian film of the 21st century. The intrigue of a true story, its universality and convincing roles of the child actors in this film provide a vehicle for emphasizing the importance of understanding and reconciliation following the ethnic conflicts in this region. Whether you belong to a certain nation hangs on the absurdity of what your name is.
