Derek Woolfenden

Born in Paris in 1978, Derek Woolfenden is a script-writer, camera operator, director and editor for his own self-produced films (more than 20 shorts, one medium-length film and a feature film). Member of Collectif Négatif since it was created in 2006 by Yves-Marie Mahé, founder and publisher of the cinema magazine Inserts, Derek Woolfenden continuously writes about cinema (articles, interviews, essays and projects about works in progress). Programmer of films from every genre in alternative spaces, since 2010 he’s been one of the members of the collective Curry Vavart. Since 2006 he has worked at the Cinémathèque française and since 2015 at the La Clef cinema. Derek Woolfenden is also a performer, a script-doctor, an artistic adviser and an organiser of cultural events.
