This directorial debut by Bogdan Miricã is a cynical crime thriller playing with various film genres. Roman (Dragoș Bucur) returns from Bucharest to the land near the border with Ukraine that he has just inherited from his grandfather. Having decided to sell this vast but desolate property, he is warned by the local policeman that his grandfather was a crime lord in the area and his men will not let go of the land – and their smuggling business – without a fight. Set in a rural Romania, Dogs examines human nature through the depiction of the struggle of three men, who – though seemingly very unalike – have a lot in common.
