Statistics show that during their professional career, all train drivers run over a number of suicidal, careless or drunken people. Ilija is a 60-year-old train driver, close to retiring. He holds the infamous record of 28 kills committed during his career, which makes him a real champion of running people over. Ilija's 19 year old adopted son Sima is preparing to take over the family trade and his father's job, but the fear of becoming an innocent mass-murderer is paralysing the boy... Applying a lighter tone and a playful mood, the director approaches more serious matters and tries to heal the aching souls of his protagonists. Filled with black Balkan humour, The Train Driver's Diary is a touching tragicomedy about the father-son relationship, set in the charming micro world of the railway station.
