Once upon a time, a group of German workers sets off to a construction site in the border region between Bulgaria and Greece. This foreign land and its breathtaking landscape awaken the men's sense of adventure, but they are also confronted with their own prejudices and mistrust due to the language barrier and cultural differences. The stage is quickly set for a showdown when the men begin to compete for recognition and favour from the local villagers. Well-received at this year’s Cannes festival and picking up awards ever since, the film is an extraordinary, fresh take on the classical western set in the "Wild East", from the director Valeska Grisebach (Longing) and the producers of Toni Erdmann (Lux Prize 2016).
