CINEAST 2017 BRINGS A CLOSER LOOK AT...

Adrian Titieni Adrian Titieni (1963) is a well-known Romanian theatre and film actor. He made his film debut in Pas în doi (Paso doble), which premiered at the Berlinale in 1986, and he has appeared in over 50 films to date. He continued acting in many shorts and student films, even after he became a well-known actor and the rector of the Bucharest National University of Theatre and Film. In the course of his career, he has worked with Lucian Pintilie in Balanta (The Oak) (premiered at Cannes in 1992), Cristi Puiu in The Death of Mr. Lăzărescu, (Cannes 2005), Călin Netzer in Child’s Pose (Golden Bear in Berlin 2013) and Cristian Mungiu in Graduation (Cannes Directing Award in 2016). Adrian Titieni has been present in CinEast in at least one film every year. In 2017 we finally have the pleasure of welcoming him in person. He will answer audience questions after the screenings of the films Marita and Ana, Mon Amour and give a talk about his career and experience with working with directors of the Romanian New Wave.
   

Arkadiusz Jakubik

Arkadiusz Jakubik (1969) is a Polish actor, director, screenwriter and musician. As a graduate of the Academy of Theatre in Wrocław, he made his debut at the Warsaw Operetta in 1993. He has been performing on the stages of musical and impresario theatres, directing performances, writing musicals and radio plays (winner of the main prize at the National Radio Vocal Competition). He has appeared in numerous TV series, gaining countrywide popularity in the role of Rys in the sitcom 13 posterunek. Jakubik's role as a notary in the  The Wedding (2004), a film directed by one of the most recognised Polish directors of the younger generation (and a CinEast favourite) Wojciech Smarzowski, marked the start of the ongoing collaboration between the two artists. Jakubik has starred in major roles in Smarzowski’s films - The Dark House, Traffic Department, The Mighty Angel (all screened at CinEast) as well as Volhynia (on the programme this year) - for which he has picked up several awards. He is one of the busiest film actors in Poland, with around 40 appearances to date working with directors such as Maciej Pieprzyca, Lukasz Palkowski, Borys Lankosz and others. Arkadiusz Jakubik has also directed the films The Simple Story About Love and The Simple Story About a Murder, which he will present personally in Luxembourg. The CinEast 2017 programme also features him in three other films: I’m a Killer, The Fastest and The Art Of Loving. He is an accomplished musician and the CinEast audience can see him perform with his band Dr. Misio at the Ancien Cinema in Vianden.
   
Ksenija Marinković Ksenija Marinković (1966) is a Croatian actress, a member of the Croatian National Theatre ensemble in Zagreb. She has won multiple film and theatre awards and has recently acted in films such as Just Between Us (2011), Projections (2013), Life Is A Trumpet (2015) as well as several films screened at CinEast in previous years: The High Sun (2015), The Reaper (2015), The Good Wife (2016), On The Other Side (2016). CinEast 2017 pays homage to this outstanding actress, who features in the film programme in The Constitution and the short film, Plan A.
   
Goran Kapetanović Goran Kapetanović is a film director originating from Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, who has been living and working in Sweden since 1992. He studied film direction at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts (SADA), and between 2005 and 2010 he worked as a producer and mentor in workshops in Kigali, Rwanda, where he made five short films together with people from the Rwanda Film Centre. The films premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2011. His last four shorts and novel films have received 23 international awards, with the film Kiruna-Kigali shortlisted for the Oscars. At CinEast 2017, Goran in person will present his films Refugee 352 and My Aunt In Sarajevo.
