Milko Lazarov is a Bulgarian film director born in 1967. He graduated from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) in Sofia, later becoming a lecturer in the Academy’s film department. His feature debut Alienation (Отчуждение, 2013, screened at CinEast 2014) premiered at the Venice Film Festival in the official selection of Venice Days where it won two awards. His second film Ága premiered at Berlinale competition (out of competition) this year and received the Best Film award at Fajr Film Festival, Cabourg Film Festival and Sarajevo Film Festival. Lazarov was awarded with Best director at Filmkunstfest, Shwerin, Eurasia Film Festival and EAST & WEST International Film Festival in Russia.
