Giedre Beinoriute, born in 1976, graduated from the Film and Television Department of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2002. She has directed and written eight short films, both fiction and documentary, which were well received nationally and internationally. Her latest feature documentary Conversations on Serious Topics (2012) was Lithuania‘s official submission for the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category in 2013. Breathing Into Marble is Giedre’s first fiction feature film. Since 2007, she has been teaching scriptwriting and ﬁlm directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. She has also been a student in Art Doctoral Studies, with her artistic research project Depicting Children in Cinema: A Director’s Approach, and she is a member of the Lithuanian Filmmakers Union.
