Austris Mailītis

Austris Mailītis is an award-winning Latvian architect who graduated from Riga Technical University's Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning in 2012. He works in the two-generation architects’ and artists’ family company Mailitis Architects that designs public and culture-related buildings, and also deals with residential and commercial projects. Austris received the Latvian Architectural Grand Award prize "Golden Pineapple" in 2017 and "The Young Architect of the Year 2018" prize. Among the most notable projects he has worked on are the reconstruction of the National Open Air stage in Riga, the Latvian Pavillion at the 56th and 55th Venice Art Biennale, Latvia University's Faculty of Nature Sciences in Riga and the Shaolin Flying Monks temple in Henan province, China, the construction of which is depicted in the film Flying Monks Temple by Žanete Skarule.
