Bohdan Karásek

Bohdan Karásek, from the Czech Republic, began making amateur films in the late 1990s. He studied at Film School Zlín, going on to Prague’s FAMU where, after graduation, he worked for two years as a teacher. After a ten-year hiatus he resumed filmmaking in a more mature way, but principally still in a home-made state of mind, without any institutional shelter, with the smallest crew of co-workers. He founded the Alfred Bouriana Film Company and made three “flat-based“ films under this label: Lucie (2011), Love Songs (2013) and the feature-length debut Karel, Me and You (2019).
