This charming portrait of the world´s best-known Czech film director presents the late Miloš Forman through his autobiographical reminiscences (read by his son Petr) and many contemporaneous interviews conducted with him in English, French and Czech. Employing a general chronological structure, the film uses sometimes rare archive footage to recount Forman´s career that took him from the streets of socialist Prague to the red carpets of Cannes during the 1968 revolts and to the glitz of Hollywood and the Oscars. Forman vs. Forman shows Forman not only talking about his life and work, but also expressing his views on emigration, success, freedom, and the influence of restrictions and pressure on one´s creative process, as experienced differently on both sides of the Iron Curtain. Presented at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
