Internet dangers

In their ‘psychosocial experiment’, two documentary-makers set a trap for online predators who exploit the lack of limits and near-anonymity of digital social media to prey on innocent victims. They hire actresses (three young women) and set them up with fake online profiles and studio-built children’s bedrooms to pretend they are twelve-year-olds.

This is a radical ‘film about making a film’ which – with the help of make-up artists and set designers, and with the participation and commentaries of psychologists, sexologists, lawyers and criminal investigators – aims to raise public awareness about the topic of online child abuse, exploring ‘live’ this pervasive, though poorly understood, societal danger.

Despite being a documentary feature, Caught In The Net has been the most successful film at Czech cinemas this year.
