Anna is a 35-year-old single mother, working hard as a paramedic to provide a better future for her daughter Katia. She has just taken out a mortgage for a new apartment. She seems to have an ideal relationship with her child. But then a tragic car accident changes everything and marks the beginning of a downward spiral of helplessness and grief. Due to this sudden turn of events, Anna starts to question her moral compass in a society where everyone seems to have lost their own.
Ukrainian director Christina Tynkevych´s powerful debut offers a tight narrative, refined cinematography and an excellent central performance from Anastasija Karpenko (awarded at this year’s Locarno festival) in a heart-breaking story.
