A 40-year-old documentary filmmaker, unhappy with his career, devotes less and less time to his family, choosing instead to focus on filming the broken relationship between a monk and his mother. When he learns that the monk has mental-health issues and has been placed in a psychiatric clinic and the mother is about to undergo cancer surgery, he sets his mind on bringing them together in order to create an emotional finale to his film. The closer he gets to his ultimate goal, the harder it is to face the dilemma of shooting 'life as it is' or showing human compassion.
The film is a co-production between Bulgaria and Romania and the debut fiction feature of screenwriter and director Svetoslav Draganov, well-known for his documentaries. Drawing on personal experiences from his own life on the screen, he creates an intimate portrait of a documentary director conflicted about ethical choices both in his private and professional life.
