An engaging portrait of the family of Václav Vojíř, a respected small-town notary, who comes under pressure to join the local branch of the Communist Party against his wishes. He and his fastidious spouse Věra represent two different personalities held together by their unpretentious love and tenderness, but also by strong ethical principles.
This original intimate drama about the neat microcosm of a Czech family exposed to the waves of historical events before and after the Russian invasion of 1968, and about the power of a given word, gains its charm from the finely wrought performances by Martin Finger and Gabriela Mikulková. Winner of Best Director and Best Actor Award at this year's International Film Festival at Karlovy Vary.
