Ilmar Raag

Ilmar Raag is an Estonian film director, screenwriter, media executive and columnist. In 1997 he graduated from the University of Tartu. Between 1996-1998 he hosted a film news programme on Estonian National Television. In 1999 he received an M.A. in screen writing from Ohio University. After that he began working in TV management and in 2002-2005 he served as CEO of Estonian National Television (ETV). In 2005 he directed television movie August 1991 (2005) and also wrote a screenplay for another TV movie. In 2007 Raag made his feature film debut with the critically acclaimed film Klass. In 2012 he presented his film Une Estonienne a Paris starring Jeanne Moreau in Locarno and a year later he directed the film Kertu (both screened at CinEast). Erik Stoneheart is his latest feature film, co-produced by Luxembourgish company Paul Thiltges Distribution.
