Adolf El Assal was born in Alexandria, Egypt and he grew up in Dubai, London and Luxembourg. He graduated with an M.A. in Filmmaking from Kingston University in the United Kingdom. He has since directed a couple of short films including the award-winning La Fameuse Route... (2011) and Mano de Dios (2011). In 2014, he completed his first feature, The Notorious Guys, and in 2019 his second feature film, Sawah (2019, on Netflix). His latest project is Baraki, a Belgian TV Series that he has co-directed (available also on Netflix). Ady is a Berlinale Talents alumni and a member of the European Film Academy. He is the owner of Wady Films, a Luxembourg-based film production company.
