Damian Kocur

Damian Kocur is a Polish director and cinematographer, a graduate of Krzysztof Kieslowski’s Film School in Katowice and a PhD student at the Łódź Film School. He is the author of numerous internationally acclaimed short films as well as commercials. When making films, he pays close attention to the credibility of emotions on the screen, aiming to achieve complete authenticity in terms of the characters and their stories.

In 2021 we screened his award-winning short black&white documentary Beyond Is a Day and this year CinEast presents Damian’s two latest creations: his debut feature Bread and Salt that has collected an array of awards at festivals in Venice, Cairo, Cottbus, Antalya, Gijón, Bratislava and Gdynia (presented in our Official competition) and the short film As It Was, a collaboration with Ukrainian director Anastasiia Solonevych.
