Elena is a young theatre director full of creative ideas. She has already made a name for herself in the artistic world of Sofia, and in her private life she dreams of having a child with her partner Leon. The future looks bright until the moment she realises that she might never be able to conceive. Trying to cope with this difficult truth, she meets the children from an orphanage in a small mountainous village and energetically throws herself into developing a life-changing theatre program that combines various performing arts.
Next, she is in Kibera, Kenya, where she is invited to do the same, but with masses of motherless kids. This experience will make her reconsider everything she thought she wanted for herself and her future.
Based on a true story, the latest feature by Bulgarian director and actress Zornitsa Sofia, is a deeply emotional and powerful response to the sorrows and hardships of modern life. It delves into the very core of being a “mother”, and shows clearly how helping a person or a community can be beneficial and life-changing not only for those who are helped, but also for the helpers.
