Mára and Heduš, two boys trying to run away from parents and boredom, hit the road in a stolen car and take us on a ride across the frozen landscapes of the Czech countryside, but it takes all of their pubescent rebellion, guts, buddy bonding, imagination and daydreaming to find real adventure and be ready to face it head on.
The third film by Olmo Omerzu, the Prague-based Slovenian filmmaker – director of the award-winning Family Film (CinEast 2015) – is a low-key road trip comedy about the teenage need for escape and friendship which may take unexpected turns: all the more reason to embark on this quirky winter journey. Winner of the Best Director Award at this year’s Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
