WOMEN'S EVENT

Sunday 7 October from 18.30

Neimënster

Ice MotherA special event featuring the screening of the film Ice Mother by Bohdan Sláma followed by a debate entitled “Women and ageing in contemporary society”, in the presence of two experts on the subject.

Ice Mother is a bittersweet story of a 67-year-old grandmother, who experiences a series of life-changing events, which liberate her and put her in the centre of her life again. A late-in-life romance changes her relationship with her selfish sons and her belief in the checklist she imposed on her life.

The screening will be followed by a debate on the topic: women and ageing in contemporary society. During the debate, we will discuss whether modern societies value the potential of women over 50 years old, now the largest demographic group in the world. A greater understanding of the potential for our life’s third act could provoke a shift in culture and mind-sets and serve as an example to younger generations, which they could reflect on when considering their own lives and values.
