German Democratic Republic, September 1989. The life of 12-year-old FRITZI changes at the same time as the general mood of the country. In fact, her best friend SOPHIE has fled the country with her mother to pass through Hungary to West Germany, and the only thing that Fritzi has left is Sophie's little dog SPUTNIK. Sophie left Sputnik in Fritzi´s care. However, Fritzi misses the presence of Sophie as much as her little four-legged companion does. That is why she decides to take Sputnik back to Sophie. To get there, there is only one way – through the heavily guarded border. For a 12-year-old girl and her little dog, this is a very dangerous adventure...
