Nina, a French teacher in her mid-30’s struggling to have a child, looks for a surrogate mother. It would seem that together with her husband they have found an ideal candidate. 25-year-old Magda outwardly appears to be happy; she enjoys life and has no commitments. Yet Nina falls for the woman who could have given birth to her child. It is a story about unexpected love, the ability to fill the void and taking difficult choices in life.
Nina is a story about an unexpected, difficult love, complicated choices, a story of people who treat life as a game and suddenly have to face painful reality. It is a story where losers and winners are on the same side, where the world is not divided between good and bad, heterosexuals and homosexuals. This is a story of impulsive love, which doesn’t care for traditional divisions. Nina premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival where it won the Big Screen Award.
