For decades, Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude have dazzled the world with the audaciousness of their large-scale art installations. Now, 10 years after the death of his muse, partner and art collaborator, Christo sets out to realize The Floating Piers project, which they conceived together many years ago. Shot with uncensored access to Christo and his team’s work, the documentary chronicles Christo’s 2016 project in which he mounted a golden path across Lake Iseo in Northern Italy, allowing people literally to stride across the gently undulating water surface. In this process, Christo – a larger-than-life man known for his forceful and at times cantankerous personality – battles with technology, bureaucracy, corruption and the elements. The result is an installation of stunning beauty and a documentary revealing an intimate portrait of a man who is ready to chase his dreams, with hard work and commitment, even beyond the possible.
