The 13th hybrid edition of CinEast attracted over 6450 participants, with 3150 spectators in cinemas, over 2700 online views and more than 600 people attending our special events. Many thanks to all and see you in 2021!

Awards Ceremony 2020

The Awards Ceremony of the 13th edition of CinEast takes place on Saturday 24 October at 19.00 at Kinepolis Kirchberg. The ceremony will be followed by the screening of the Closing film Sweat by Magnus von Horn and an online Q&A with the director. 

Grand Prix repetition

The winning film Servants by Ivan Ostrochovský will be repeated today (Sun 25/10) at 21.00 at the Cinématheque. Many films will stay available online until 8/11. Photos from Awards Ceremony here.

Glory to the Queen

The Luxembourg premiere of the documentary Glory to the Queen, co-produced by LU/AT company Amour Fou, in the presence of the Georgian director Tatia Skhirtladze, takes place on Monday 19/10 at 7pm at Ciné Utopia.

Debate on climate activism

A discussion "Environmental grief and climate activism" on the radical forms of fighting for/defending the climate. After the screening of the film Grief by Andrea Culková (Friday 16/10, 7pm, Kinepolis Kirchberg), with the director and other guests.

Debate after Collective

A discussion on systemic corruption and the power of media after the screening of the award-winning documentary Collective. With the director Alexander Nanau and the main protagonist, the journalist Catalin Tolontan (both joining online) & the Luxembourgish co-producer Bernard Michaux. Tuesday 13/10 at 7pm at Kinepolis Kirchberg.

The 13th edition of CinEast was inaugurated at the Official Opening that took place at Neimënster on 8/10, with around 130 guests. See photos. The marathon of 110 physical screenings of 47 features and other events has just started. Enjoy the festival!

New country - Belarus

In 2020 we will for the first time screen films - 3 in total - from Belarus. The number of Central and Eastern European countries featured at the festival now reaches 21.

The Awards Ceremony of the 12th edition of CinEast took place on Saturday 19/10 at 8pm at the Cinémathèque Luxembourg. Followed by the screening of the film The Whistlers by Corneliu Porumboiu.

"Down with Walls!"

Grand Prix repetition

The Latvian film Oleg by Juris Kursietis, the winner of the Grand Prix of CinEast 2019, will be screened once again on Sunday 20/10 at 20:30 at the Cinémathèque.

The Painted Bird

The Lithuanian evening organised in the framework of our Focus on Lithuania on Friday 11/10 at Cinémathèque features two films, guest Marija Kavtaradze (Summer Survivors) and Lithuanian drinks & snacks.

Travellers' evening

World premiere

The short film Is That, Like, Your Real Job? by Lithuanian/Luxembourgish director/actress Gintare Parulyte is screened in World Premiere as part of the Short fiction films marathon on 9/10, 18.30 at Cinémathèque.

The opening of the 12th edition was very successful, with over 270 people attending the ceremony and the screening of the opening film My Thoughts Are Silent. See photos in our gallery.

The festival will open with a special screening of the Ukrainian film My Thoughts Are Silent by Antonio Lukich, which will be screened right after the Official Opening ceremony (3/10 at 7pm, Neimënster)
