Janez Burger

Janez Burger is a Slovenian director and screenwriter, who graduated in Film and TV directing from FAMU, Prague. In 1997 he opened his own theatre group Burgerteater and produced theatre plays as well as more than 100 theatre improvisations. His first full-length feature film Idle Running (1999) received 20 awards and has been screened in more than 60 festivals. Together with director Jan Cvitkovič he founded the production company Staragara. His film Silent Sonata (Circus Fantasticus, 2011, screened at CinEast) picked up numerous awards on the festival circuit, just like his latest film Ivan, which won 7 awards at the Slovenian Film Festival and the Best Film award at the Let’s CEE FF and Sharm el Sheikh IFF.
